PRO BONO

We are in constant need of volunteers to help with filing, research, community outreach, and other important tasks. Attorneys, law students, college students, and other members of the community are encouraged to contact our office and talk with our staff about volunteer opportunities.

Rappahannock Legal Services, Inc. (RLS) is a 501(C)(3) non profit and is also certified to offer tax credits under the Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Act. RLS is registered as a charitable organization under the Virginia Solicitation of Contributors Law; a financial statement is available from the State Division of Consumer Affairs in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services upon request.

Pro Bono and monetary donations are tax deductible under federal law. In addition, annual monetary, pro bono, office space,and office equipment donations of $1,000 or more entitle the donor to a 40% state income tax credit against business tax liability. Pro bono attorney representation is valued at $125 per hour for purposes of state income tax credits. Personal monetary donations between $500 and $50,000 may also qualify for 40% state income tax credits against individual tax liability.

Private donations over the years has helped sustain RLS's daily operation. We deeply appreciate the generosity of individuals and organizations in the community we serve.
